🎬 Un polar flamboyant et inégal, fascinant par sa mise en scène, son atmosphère nocturne et la composition hallucinée de Christopher Walken. Le film est réalisé par Abel Ferrara, on y suit Frank White, baron de la drogue libéré de prison, qui entend reprendre le contrôle du crime new-yorkais tout en finançant un hôpital avec son argent sale, entouré d’un casting impressionnant, Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, David Caruso, Victor Argo, Giancarlo Esposito, Steve Buscemi. Abel Ferrara filme New York comme un territoire gothique, saturé de néons, de pluie nocturne et de violence brusque, avec un sens du rythme qui alterne calme étrange et explosions de brutalité. Lors de projections initiales, notamment à New York, le film est hué, certains spectateurs quittent la salle, et Ferrara fait face à des questions très hostiles, avant que l’œuvre ne gagne progressivement un statut de film culte. 🎬 🎬 🎬
