C'est l'histoire vrai du roi Georges VI (père de Elizabeth II) qui souffrait de bégaiement et qui va travailler avec coach pour corriger cela et pouvoir prononcer ses discours. C'est sa femme qui a poussé et tout fait pour qu'il puisse corriger sa maladie. Dans son registre le film est excellent car on ressent la difficulté de s'exprimer pour les gens atteints de bégaiement. Il y avait de l'émotion, un peu de suspens et surtout une belle histoire.

PARAMOUNT Le roi George VI arrive au trône suite à l'abdication de son frère (qui a préféré renoncer au trône pour vivre avec Wallis Simpson). Il fait appel à un orthophoniste pour l'aider dans sa diction car il est beggue. C'est émouvant et très bien joué. George VI est le père d'Élisabeth II
