Un agent du MI5 lui propose un marché, devenir informatrice pour protéger son jeune fils. S’engage alors un thriller psychologique et politique sur fond de guerre de l’ombre. James Marsh insuffle une tension constante et feutrée, évitant l’action brute au profit d’un suspense psychologique à l’ancienne. La photographie désaturée et le rythme lent servent à merveille l’atmosphère oppressante du Belfast des années Troubles. "Shadow Dancer" séduit par sa rigueur, son authenticité et ses performances d’acteurs, mais pourrait rebuter ceux qui attendent un récit plus nerveux.
