Les avis sur 'La Nuit au musée 2' oscillent entre l'enthousiasme pour ses effets spéciaux impressionnants et l'introduction de nouveaux personnages charismatiques, et une certaine déception pour ceux qui trouvent le film moins surprenant que son prédécesseur. Globalement, le film est apprécié pour son humour, son aventure familiale et la performance de Ben Stiller, bien que certains le jugent inférieur aux autres opus de la série.
