Considering that the previous series had a modest budget but still turned out to be a masterpiece and was highly successful, there were high expectations for this one to be much better. With increased investment, the costumes, actors, set design and various locations were significantly enhanced. The level of violent and bloody scenes drastically increased to an extent that I have never seen before despite this, the storyline lost much of its realism and did not follow an engaging narrative.
The final battle scenes were overly dramatic and exaggerated, leading to a sense of implausibility. Although the intention was to portray Art the Clown as a supernatural entity beyond human capabilities, this portrayal detracted from the fear factor that his more human-like characteristics provided in the previous film. As mentioned if the film had maintained its realistic approach, it would have deserved much higher ratings.
