Summary
Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility. All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley - a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years. But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry - and anyone who reads about him - will find unforgettable.
I didn’t fall in love with this series. It was just good. Not great. Not bad. Just good. I didn’t grow up with this series. This is my first time reading the series. I get why people like this series. It’s fun. It’s a fun book to read and it’s a fun idea. Also it’s a good book to revisit if you read it as a kid. I feel like a ton of people love this book because they grew up with it. I liked the plot twist. J.K. Rollon did a great job with taking her time in the world building. We get a lot of time Harry’s life before Hogwarts and going to Hogwarts. I liked the trio even though i wish that we had a few more chapters of Harry and Ron becoming friends with Hermonine. They did save her but still it was very sudden. This book does have the trope of Adults not being helpful. They would either not listen or keep secrets that could of been helpful to know. I wasn’t a big fan of the Hogwarts houses. The book didn’t show the difference between the houses or why everyone is separated. The only difference is the personalities. The book treats Slytherins like the bad guys when they could be more than that.
