Summary
Monsieur Linh is a Vietnamese refugee in a French city. He grieves for the his homeland and for the son and daughter-in-law who were killed. His only reason to live is the infant granddaughter he has brought with him. He meets Monsieur Bark, a widower who spends his days on a bench in the park. Though they don't speak the same language, they begin a friendship. Appendices include essay by Agota Kristof, poem by Manau, and information on Vietnamese boat people.
