The Ocean at the End of the Lane

The Ocean At The End Of The Lane was almost overwhelming for me in the way that I loved it. I can’t even pinpoint exactly what spoke to me so deeply about this one but it wormed it’s way into my soul. A middle aged man returns to his childhood home and reflects on his childhood and his strange neighbors. His past is too strange and frightening to have been real. This was a short book at under 200 pages and I think that’s what makes it all the more impressive. I was so enthralled with this whimsical and haunting world Gaiman created in such a short time. I wanted more, I wanted it to never end. This novel and the Hempstocks will live with me for a long time. Months later and I still think about this book weekly.
