The Musée des Arts Décoratifs, located in Paris, France, is a renowned museum dedicated to the exhibition and preservation of decorative arts. Situated in the 1st arrondissement, it occupies the Pavillon de Marsan, the north-western wing of the Palais du Louvre. Founded in 1905 by the Union des Arts décoratifs, it boasts a collection of approximately one million objects, making it the largest museum of decorative arts in continental Europe. The museum showcases a wide range of items from the Middle Ages to the present day, including furniture, interior design, religious paintings, ceramics, glassware, and toys. It has a significant collection of French furniture, tableware, carpets, porcelain, and glass pieces by renowned artists. The museum also features period rooms, such as part of Jeanne Lanvin's house and the 1752 Gold Cabinet of Avignon. The museum has hosted influential exhibitions, including the 1966 exhibition, "Les Années '25': Art Déco/Bauhaus/Stijl Esprit Nouveau", which coined the term "Art Déco". After a decade-long renovation from 1996 to 2006, the museum reopened, continuing its mission to showcase the history of French taste and decorative arts and design.
