Summary
The Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as the Blue House (La Casa Azul), is a vibrant, cobalt-blue historic house and art museum located in the Colonia del Carmen neighborhood of Coyoacán, Mexico City. It was the birthplace and home of renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera. The museum showcases a collection of artwork by Kahlo, Rivera, and other artists, along with Mexican folk art, pre-Hispanic artifacts, photographs, and personal items. The house remains much as it was in the 1950s, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of wealthy Mexican bohemian artists and intellectuals of the time. The house was built in 1904 and was Kahlo's family home throughout her life. After her death in 1954, Rivera donated the house to the nation of Mexico in 1958, and it was converted into a museum in her honor. The museum has since become the most-visited in Coyoacán and one of the most visited in Mexico City. The museum's collection is displayed in ten rooms, including Kahlo's final bedroom and studio area, and ends at the large courtyard garden. The museum also contains a café and a small gift shop. The Frida Kahlo Museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the life and work of one of Mexico's most iconic artists.
Reviews and Comments
3 reviewsPersonnage attendrissant.
