L'île rouge, une film sur les colons français à Madagascar. Un film qui montre très simplement les effets de la colonisation : l'effacement et l'insouciance. L'effacement car coloniser c'est avant tout un acte économique et l'argent égalise tout. Les singularité des cultures locales est épurée au maximum pour tendre vers la culture du colon. L'insouciance, ou naïveté, pourquoi croire que tout va bien alors que si l'on se concentre un peu, qu'on plisse les yeux, alors on y voit plus clair. Dans cette société en totale dissymétrie tout est faux et c'est le mal nécessaire pour ce bonheur apparent. En égalisant tout, la nature de l'Homme disparaît, reste alors les illusions.
Synopsis
Madagascar, at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. On an air base of the French army, the soldiers live the last carefree years of colonialism. Influenced by his readings of Fantômette, Thomas, a child who is not yet 10 years old, gradually forges a look at the world around him.
