Synopsis

In 1933, Welsh journalist Gareth Jones travels to Ukraine, where he experiences the horrors of a famine. Everywhere he goes he meets henchmen of the Soviet secret service who are determined to prevent news about the catastrophe from getting out. Stalin’s forced collectivisation of agriculture has resulted in misery and ruin—the policy is tantamount to mass murder.

Community Reviews

Viewers find 'Mr. Jones' a compelling historical drama that vividly portrays the tragic Holodomor famine in Ukraine. While the film is praised for its chilling depiction of historical events and strong performances, some viewers felt it was slow and wished for more focus on the famine itself rather than political intrigues. The emotional impact is significant, though the pacing and narrative style received mixed reactions.

👍 Vivid portrayal of a tragic historical event.

👎 Some found the pacing slow and narrative unfocused.
