Film préféré de Tim Burton. Personnage hyper attachant. Le monde de Burton présentant un être « hors norme » arrivant dans le quotidien tranquille et bien huilé d’une petite banlieue chic. Des habitants n’acceptant pas la différence et ce qui leur est étranger finissent par le rejeter de manière violente. Le monstre n’est jamais celui qui semble l’être au premier abord. Burton s’inspire de sa banlieue proprette de Burbank où il ne s’est jamais senti réellement à sa place. 1ere collab Burton/Depp. Magnifique musique de Danny Elfman notamment le passage de la « Snow Dance ».
