Dans Interstellar, la Terre devient inhabitable. Cooper part avec une équipe à travers un trou de ver pour chercher une nouvelle planète. Après plusieurs échecs et sacrifices, il plonge dans un trou noir où il découvre une dimension où le temps est relatif et où il peut communiquer avec sa fille Murph à travers la gravité. Grâce à cela, Murph trouve l’équation qui sauve l’humanité. Cooper est finalement sauvé et retrouve sa fille âgée, avant de repartir chercher Amelia, restée sur une planète habitable.
