Un film qui suit une équipe de soldats américains chargés du déminage lors de la guerre d'Irak. Kathryn Bigelow filme façon caméra au poing les différentes missions auxquels sont confrontés ces soldats et où la mort à est chaque coin de rue. Le suspense est palpable dans chaque mission, on retient son souffle, tout comme les soldats chargés de couvrir leur camarade pendant le désamorçage. A multiplier les situations, le film perd cependant en intensité et traîne un peu en longueur.
