Avec un matériau de base aussi dense que le livre et aussi acclamé que la comédie musicale, c'était évident que cette adaptation n'allait pas être parfaite. Et pourtant, elle s'en sort très bien. L'histoire est respectée. Les acteurs chantent tous très bien (en particulier Hugh Jackman et Anne Hathaway). Les chansons sont toutes excellentes et extrêmement bien écrites. Les rencontres entre Javert et Jean Valjean sont très réussies car le fait de se faire rencontrer deux personnages hantés, l'un par son devoir, l'autre par son passé, n'était pas évident et pourtant le film s'en sort très bien. La fin est, quant à elle, extrêmement émouvante. On regrettera juste l'abondance de chansons (même lors des scènes où il n'y en avait pas besoin). En bref, un film qui s'en sort extrêmement bien dans son adaptation et qui mérite d'être vu et reconnu comme une bonne adaptation des Misérables.
Synopsis
An adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France. Jean Valjean, a man imprisoned for stealing bread, must flee a relentless policeman named Javert. The pursuit consumes both men's lives, and soon Valjean finds himself in the midst of the student revolutions in France.
