Synopsis
Jean Valjean is released from prison after nineteen years of hard labor, violence, and suffering. Filled with anger and a deep sense of injustice, he has become a dangerous man who trusts no one and nothing. When he arrives in a small village in Provence, he is repeatedly turned away. Desperate, he unknowingly finds refuge at the house of Bishop Bienvenu, who lives simply, with his sister and a single servant. There, he is surprised by their warm welcome, and his inner demons start to waver. But the temptation to be what society sees in him still haunts him, and he steals the Bishop’s silverware. When the police ultimately catches him, the Bishop forgives him and gifts him the candlesticks. This acts becomes the starting point of Jean Valjean’ transformation into a new man who reclaims his humanity.

Le film est bien mais il aurait pu être bien mieux. Les acteurs jouent bien et les décors sont beaux mais le film ne nous sort jamais de cette impression de longue scène d'intro qui n'en finit pas. l'idée de base était intéressante mais elle est mal exploitée. A la fin du film, on ressort frustré et un peu déçu. Dommage.
🎬 Réalisé par Éric Besnard, le film se concentre sur les origines du héros des Misérables de Victor Hugo, juste après sa sortie du bagne en 1815. Ce drame historique, met en vedette Grégory Gadebois dans le rôle principal, aux côtés de Bernard Campan, Isabelle Carré et Alexandra Lamy. Les décors de Bertrand Seitz recréent fidèlement la maison de l'évêque Myriel décrite par Victor Hugo. Albert Dupontel apparaît en caméo comme Claude Gueux. Éric Besnard signe son 10e long métrage, après des films comme "Délicieux" et "Louise Violet". Il retrouve Grégory Gadebois, star de ses trois précédents opus, ainsi que Isabelle Carré et Alexandra Lamy, pour explorer la nuit décisive où Jean Valjean, hébergé par l'évêque Myriel, choisit sa rédemption. 🎬 🎬 🎬
Excellente interprétation avec une distribution de rêve. Mais le rythme est trop lent à s'endormir.
