Synopsis

For twenty years, Bruno and Malik have lived in a different world—the world of autistic children and teens. In charge of two separate nonprofit organizations (The Hatch & The Shelter), they train young people from underprivileged areas to be caregivers for extreme cases that have been refused by all other institutions. It’s an exceptional partnership, outside of traditional settings, for some quite extraordinary characters.

Community Reviews

The Specials is widely praised for its heartfelt portrayal of the challenges and triumphs in the world of autism care. Viewers are moved by the film's emotional depth, the strong performances by Vincent Cassel and Reda Kateb, and its insightful look into the lives of those on the autism spectrum and their caregivers. The film successfully balances drama and comedy, avoiding clichés and sentimentality, making it a touching and educational experience. However, a few viewers felt the plot lacked originality and depth.

👍 Exceptional performances and a deep emotional connection.

👎 Some found the plot predictable and underwhelming.
