Yes I understand why it was widely criticized. This story was set up well to be a slow burn unfolding of supernatural and psychological terror. Instead we get what feels the director prompting AI to conclude her story in the most artistic and dramatic way possible. George riding his unpaid for boat into the dark hellion abyss turns into the portrait we’ve been seeing all along. There’s no real justice for Cath. Or any other woman who was murdered by their husbands in that house.
Film entre l’horreur et le suspense très prenant ! Les personnages principaux (mari et femme) sont très bien développés. Surtout celui du mari ! J’ai adoré le clin d’œil féministe et engagé qui souligne la puissance de la solidarité féminine. + le sujet de l’anorexie (TCA) est bien amené en arrière plan. La lente et sinueuse ascension du mal jusqu’à son point culminant est fabuleusement bien mise en scène !

Le film aborde un thème aborde important tel que les violences conjugales mais je ne l’ai pas ressenti comme étant le sujet principal alors que c’était l’intention du réalisateur. J’ai beaucoup aimé l’histoire même si après plusieurs mois, j’ai oublié une grande partie du film ! L’intrigue était bien menée.
