Le meilleur Carpenter! Chef d’œuvre !
On ne présente plus John Carpenter, papa de la saga Halloween ou encore de Vampires... Avec The Thing sorti en 1982 il met en scène Kurt Russell, déjà présent dans New York 1997, dans un rôle sur mesure qui se retrouve au fin fond de l'Arctique et qui doit lutter sur une Chose qui prend la forme des êtres qu'elle habite. Très juste dans son rapport aux personnages et dans les situations qu'ils sont amenés à rencontrer, John Carpenter offre un huis clos (à la manière d'Alien) glacial qui fait la part belle à la connexion entre les protagonistes. Jouant clairement sur la notion de peur, moins amplifiée que dans son film d'horreur Halloween, il appuie sur la force collective du groupe pour survivre à cette force inconnue qui les menace. Même si la cohésion s'effrite aussi vite que les corps s'accumulent, le huis clos installe une tension oppressante sur la véritable personnalité de chaque acteur. Le climat glacial de l'Arctique apporte une touche particulière créant également un danger pour la survie du groupe et pour la peur qu'elle suscite. Le Blu Ray 4K offre un travail remarquable sur l'image, les décors en offrant une véritable redécouverte de ce classique. Malgré ses 43 ans, The Thing n'a pas à rougir de ses qualités, même si quelques effets spéciaux, aujourd'hui, peuvent prêter à sourire, il traverse les années en se bonifiant avec les technologies actuelles. Les personnages ne sont pas oubliés et ont tous un rôle presque déterminant sur l'avancée de l'histoire offrant donc des connexions agréables à découvrir. The Thing est véritablement un petit OVNI, un film à voir et à revoir aux travers les diverses éditions à notre disposition car elles apportent toujours un petit plus à sa redécouverte, une autre énergie visuelle, des couleurs plus vives qui intensifie cette notion de froid qui accentue la peur.
Vraiment très contente d’avoir vu ce film, c’était vieux certes mais très très cool! Une vrai inspiration ! Les effets pratiques sont vraiment incr j’suis fan
Bien plus sanglante que la 1ere version.. ressemblant mais avec des points de vue différent.. la question de la science y est moins marquée..
