Kubrick signe (une fois de plus) un très bon film. Il parvient à nous captiver avec la guerre du Vietnam (pourtant déjà reprise maintes fois dans d'autres films). Le film se divise en deux parties. La première partie est exceptionnelle. Tout y est absolument culte. Les répliques sont incroyables. La deuxième partie est également exceptionnelle. On y suit (dans la continuation de la première partie) la descente aux enfers des personnages. Le processus de déshumanisation prend toute la place et c'est incroyable. La direction artistique est digne des autres films de Kubrick. Certaines images sont exceptionnelles. Il filme le feu comme un maître. La bande originale colle très bien au film. Les ralentis permettent d'accentuer certains sentiments et sont très bien gérés. Un chef-d'œuvre du film de guerre.
Synopsis
A pragmatic U.S. Marine observes the dehumanizing effects the U.S.-Vietnam War has on his fellow recruits from their brutal boot camp training to the bloody street fighting in Hue.
