Reviews and Comments
1 reviewsI had a good time. Not as much Charli XCX original songs, they kinda just reused instrumentals of stuff we knew already, so that kinda sucked. (Side Note: I’m listening to the movie soundtrack and I’m now aware there was plenty of familiar original songs in the film, I guess I just thought they were reused from other Charli XCX songs since they were so generic and somewhat repetitive.) I thought the plot was very simple and easy to follow. I didn’t know a single persons name other than Charli XCX, Tim, Celeste, and Johannes. The ending seemed kinda abrupt and It wasn’t that satisfying. Overall this film was ok with a variety of funny/impactful scenes peppered in. I thought the ending voice memo was impactful and was a relatable motive for wanting people to like you and be seen as “cool.” Some scenes sort of came across as pretentious, I can’t really pinpoint certain scenes because I forgot already, but I definitely felt in theaters certain moments where it felt off. The graphics and titles are pretty cool, I liked the strobing red green and blue, and there were certain scenes where tax would flicker for like one frame, and I thought it was pretty cool since it parallel what Charli XCX was going through in certain scenes. The acting from everyone was very Genou Eine and real, I liked how they addressed that the cameraman’s are following Charli XCX and documenting for the film. Obviously certain scenes were acted out for the film, but many moments the interactions on screen felt real. Ah, I enjoyed it, not as much as I wanted to, but still I enjoyed it 7/10
