LE film qui m'a fait aimer le cinéma ! Malgré son âge et sa demande de se replacer dans le contexte d'une époque que je ne connais qu'à travers les livres d'Histoire et le roman, "L'Exorciste" reste un pilier indétrônable du genre horrifique. Des effets visuels magistraux pour l'époque, une tension terrible, des questionnements sur la place de la religion, de la famille ou encore sur la dualité entre la science et les croyances surnaturelles, Friedkin a signé un film majeur, beaucoup décrié pour sa vieillesse visible mais pourtant toujours aussi percutant pour celles et ceux qui se prêtent au jeu de faire un bond dans le temps en tant que spectateur découvrant le film. Choquant et bluffant, ce long-métrage n'est à rater sous aucun prétexte et peu importe le jugement final rendu par chacune et chacun, "L'Exorciste" aura réussi là où peu de films se hissent: la classe des œuvres qui ne laissent personne indifférent !

As a horror film of its time, it surely deserves recognition and appreciation. The scary elements employed were quite unique and innovative for its era. However with the passage of time and the plethora of horror films released since then, it no longer holds a top-tier position. It struggles to compete with contemporary films in terms of quality, scene construction and overall execution.
