Synopsis

Charles (Jean Gabin), a sixtyish career criminal fresh out of jail, rejects his wife s plan for a quiet life of bourgeois respectability. He enlists a former cellmate, Francis (Alain Delon), to assist him in pulling off one final score, a carefully planned assault on the vault of a Cannes casino. Bad luck and Francis s lack of professionalism set the caper maddeningly askew, and the stolen cash resurfaces in an unexpected manner.

Viewers generally appreciate 'Any Number Can Win' for its compelling blend of crime and drama, highlighted by the stellar performances of Jean Gabin and Alain Delon. The film's classic gangster plot, enriched with sharp dialogues and a memorable, ironic ending, captures the essence of French cinema of the era. However, some noted the film's pacing and production style as dated, with long scenes and a studio-bound feel that might not appeal to everyone.

👍 Stellar performances by Gabin and Delon.

👎 Pacing may feel slow and outdated.
