In the 1860s, fiercely independent French-Canadian Vivienne Le Coudy embarks on a journey with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen, attempting to forge a life together in the dusty town of Elk Flats, Nevada. When Holger decides to go fight for the Union in the burgeoning Civil War, Vivienne must fend for herself, which isn't easy in a town controlled by a corrupt mayor.

Audiences are captivated by 'The Dead Don't Hurt,' praising its refreshing feminist perspective in a traditionally male-dominated Western genre. Vicky Krieps shines as the resilient Vivienne, navigating the harsh realities of the 1860s American West with grace and determination. Viggo Mortensen's dual role as director and actor brings a nuanced portrayal of characters and a beautifully crafted storyline. However, some viewers found the film's pace slow, and its narrative structure, focusing on personal rather than grand historical themes, might not resonate with everyone.
👍 Vicky Krieps delivers a standout performance.
