J'ai attendu 50 ans de ma longue vie pour voir un tel chef d'oeuvre. N'attendez pas autant, ne vous trouvez plus d'excuse ("encore un film de guerre, en noir et blanc, sur 14/18"). Réalisation superbe en noir et blanc, acteurs au sommet, petitesse et grandeur des hommes en période de guerre. Et des moments uniques de cinéma comme la scène ou la femme allemande chantante redonne un brin d'humanité aux poilus français la raillant de prime abord.
