I've heard good reviews for that movie, so I thought it would be wonderful to have an opinion on it and uncover why he's appreciated. I had huge expectations on it. To be honest, I experienced disappointment and boredom while watching it. It is a fact that 'Atonement' has superb sets and particularly stunning costumes. Regrettably, the director has overdone the aesthetic splendor at the cost of the story's depth. Physical exchanges seem to be the only basis for romance. Their personalities are not being highlighted at all times (or almost). To put it simply, 'Atonement' is so uncoordinated and unsatisfying that it's grumbling due to the potential good ideas that are ruined by a flagrant lack of narrative skill.
Synopsis
Thirteen-year-old fledgling writer Briony Tallis irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit.

24 reviewsAt first (for the first 15mins) I wished there are more movies like this one with visual aesthetics, peaceful and slow, 1960-1980s, pretty girl and handsome boy’s romance. Until this arrogant self-serving little Briony ruined the life of Robbie and Cecilia. I really loathed her throughout the movie even till the bitter end. She was so self-fish till the end that she even have to write about her own imagination of Robbie and Cecilia’s happy ending thinking thinking it will give satisfaction to her reader of the book she wrote. And she still gained from their story. Unyielding love during the war time and hollow death of Robbie was just tragic. I am not really fan of tragic movie and its interesting that I hated the main character of this movie, Briony, for her one lie she made as a kid but I prefere, Joe Goldberg in You, who’s a serial killer and done much worse things than her.

nothing makes sense. nothing. makes. sense… then, there were tears in my eyes. how many loves have been lost because of a lie? because of ignorance? how many people live with regret? how does it feel to sleep at night, knowing you’ve completely changed the course of people’s lives?
