Synopsis

Orphaned and alone except for an uncle, Hugo Cabret lives in the walls of a train station in 1930s Paris. Hugo's job is to oil and maintain the station's clocks, but to him, his more important task is to protect a broken automaton and notebook left to him by his late father. Accompanied by the goddaughter of an embittered toy merchant, Hugo embarks on a quest to solve the mystery of the automaton and find a place he can call home.

Community Reviews

Viewers are captivated by 'Hugo', praising its enchanting tribute to the origins of cinema and its visually stunning portrayal of 1930s Paris. Martin Scorsese's passion for film history shines through, making it a delightful watch for both children and adults. The performances, especially by Ben Kingsley, are highly commended. However, some found the 3D effects and certain animated reconstructions less appealing, feeling they detracted from the film's historical authenticity.

👍 Enchanting tribute to cinema's origins.

👎 Some dislike the 3D and animation.
