2023. Le film est sorti juste après les accusations d'agressions sexuelles contre l'abbé Pierre (2024) et a été tourné juste avant, Emmaüs ayant pris bien soin de ne pas ébruiter les rumeurs grossissantes à l'époque. Il n'en est pas du tout question dans ce film un peu lisse (et trop long : 2h20 !) sur la vie de ce "saint" homme. La présence à ses côtés d'une femme, Lucie Coutaz, co-fondatrice d'Emmaüs, qui fut avec lui de tous les combats pendant 40 ans et qui manifestement partageait également sa vie privée, laisse entendre un amour platonique de sa part à elle : est-ce une invention ? Malgré tout, il faut saluer un plaidoyer vibrant contre la pauvreté et le mal logement, servi par une très belle prestation de Benjamin Laverhne ("En fanfare") et d'Emmanuelle Bercot.
Gentillesse et dévotion très bien mise en valeur. Dommage que ça sorte avant le cancel de l’abbe mdr.
Henri Grouès a été à la fois résistant, député, défenseur des sans-abris et révolutionnaire. De l'Assemblée Nationale aux bidonvilles de Paris, son engagement auprès des plus faibles lui a valu une renommée internationale. La création d'Emmaüs et son appel de l'hiver 54 ont fait de lui une icône. Pourtant, ses fragilités et ses souffrances sont restées inconnues. Henri Grouès a eu mille vies et a mené mille combats. Il a marqué l'Histoire sous le nom qu'il s'était choisi : l'Abbé Pierre.
