🎬 Le film de Roland Emmerich frappe fort avec ses images apocalyptiques, vagues géantes déferlant sur Manhattan, Los Angeles balayée par des tornades, New York figée sous une tempête de glace. Pour l’époque, les effets spéciaux étaient ambitieux et globalement réussis, offrant un véritable choc visuel au spectateur. Avec environ 125 millions de dollars, c’était l’un des films catastrophes les plus chers de son époque. Les scènes enneigées et gelées de New York n’ont pas toutes été filmées en extérieur. De vastes plateaux de tournage réfrigérés à -20°C ont été utilisés pour obtenir un rendu réaliste du souffle glacé. Un divertissement spectaculaire et marquant visuellement, qui a eu le mérite de populariser les enjeux climatiques, même s’il le fait au prix d’exagérations scientifiques et de personnages un peu clichés. 🎬 🎬 🎬
