This film was a fun experience. It looks stunning, I liked the visuals and the effects were pretty ahead of its time. It only had one effect that aged poorly. There’s a scene when Freddy is in fire, and it’s very obvious that his face was replaced with a giant rubber mask, in order to protect the actor on fire.
Also the story is pretty infuriating. It’s a standard slasher, but no one ever believes the main character. There were numerous times that the main character obviously has proof that someone in their dream is trying to kill them, and everyone just dismisses them and tell them to get some rest. I get that old movies almost always incorporate adults not believing children into the plot, but this was kinda pushing it.
Also, Freddy is super goofy. This isn’t much of a bad thing, I just didn’t expect it and some scenes intended to scare me were kinda funny. That end scene where the main character booby traps their house and Freddy falls for each trap, it’s incredibly goofy and not very scary. Maybe it didn’t age well, but idk.
Nevertheless, this is still a fantastic film. The main duo were very charismatic and relatable, the visuals were decent, and I had a good time. 8/10
