Claudia Draper, call-girl, est accusée du meurtre d'un client alors qu'elle était en état de légitime défense. En attendant le jugement, ses parents font tout pour la faire diagnostiquer comme étant déséquilibrée pour lui éviter d'être déclarée coupable et d'écoper d'une peine maximale. Cependant, Claudia refuse de mentir pour ne pas finir dans une institution psychiatrique.
