Synopsis
In 1984 East Berlin, dedicated Stasi officer Gerd Wiesler begins spying on a famous playwright and his actress-lover Christa-Maria. Wiesler becomes unexpectedly sympathetic to the couple, and faces conflicting loyalties when his superior takes a liking to Christa-Maria.

The Lives of Others پیامش را واضح میرساند. درباره آزادانه نوشتن است و اینکه این آزادی، آنقدر آبی روان و پاک است که میتواند سوراخی در سختترین سنگها به وجود بیاورد. تاریخ من آنقدر خوب نیست! شاید هزار هزار نویسنده و هنرمند، یا حتی افرادی معمولی که سودای یک زندگی بدون ترس زندانی شدن و آزادانه صحبت کردن را داشتند، در زیر سایه آلمان شرقی کشته شدند یا در دام افسردگی افتادند. اما بعضیهایشان که شجاع بودند، جرئت آزاد نوشتن را به آنها یاد دادند. جرئت از اینکه نترسند، چه بسا همین اکنون، وایسلری ما را در نظر دارد و ما با این کار، او را به سمت و سوق آزاد بودن بردهایم!
