A classic anime and you see why! Unusual and imaginative concepts, and gorgeous artwork with great atmosphere. It gets more mysterious and layered as the series progresses - but then in the last few episodes it takes a complete left turn, abandons the storyline and becomes - an existentialist meditation?! I still don’t know what the ending was about. But at the very least, a positive and uplifting message. Now to watch the movies, hopefully they explain what happened…
