Maid
Arpana Vaniya rated ★ 10/10
10/10 Such a good, gut-wrenching short series on Netflix. About a young mom who is in an abusive relationship and her journey trying to get out and make a better life for herself and her daughter. She works as a maid cleaning homes, but her passion is writing. They have a good way of showing background information like texts or how much money she has. I loved seeing the raw-ness of many different kinds of people that everyone is struggling in life and that some of the closest people disappoint us in life. Like her mom, that relationship is so sad. Her mom is all over the place, never acting like a grown-up but never willing to make changes. Has a good climax/turning point - where you think she's not going to make it. The ending is a good one, of Alex making it out.

Viewers are deeply moved by 'Maid,' praising its raw and authentic portrayal of a young mother's struggle against domestic abuse and poverty. The series is celebrated for its compelling storytelling and strong performances, particularly by Margaret Qualley. It resonates with its realistic depiction of the challenges faced by those in similar situations, making it both heartbreaking and inspiring. However, some find the series occasionally repetitive and slow, but these moments are generally seen as part of its detailed exploration of the protagonist's hardships.
👍 Authentic portrayal and strong performances.
👎 Some may find it slow and repetitive.

45 reviewsI was invested. The weird artsy shit with the jungle forest in the last few episodes brought it down a few points for me. It came out of left field and the notion could have been much better illustrated within the setting of reality. I could only see it as someone's silly ploy to be seen as "Artistic."
1/10/55 so good, really enjoyed it
