Squid Game Season 2 Review: A Rushed and Disappointing Sequel After the massive success of the first season, I had low expectations for Squid Game season two—not because I wasn’t curious, but because some stories are better left alone. Sadly, season two not only fails to justify its existence, but it also undermines the intelligence and creativity that made the first season a global phenomenon. The show feels rushed, as though it was hastily pieced together to capitalize on its popularity without enough thought given to the storyline or characters. The new twists and subplots lack depth, and instead of raising the stakes, they drag the narrative into predictable and uninspired territory. Characters that should have been compelling ended up being clichés. The trans girl’s storyline felt like it lacked development, and the rapper character came off as a walking stereotype with no real nuance. Even the main character, who carried so much emotional weight in the first season, was stripped of his charisma. Attempts at humor fell flat, and the serious moments felt forced rather than earned. The games themselves—arguably the heart of the series—were lackluster this time. We only got to see three games, and the constant voting sequences were monotonous and drained the tension out of the competition. Where was the creativity that made the original series so shocking and memorable? The police officer’s storyline was another letdown. His investigation into the island could have been thrilling, but instead, it lacked action, suspense, and any real sense of danger. Everything felt too easy to predict, as if the writers didn’t trust the audience to follow a more complex or layered mystery. Even the main character’s search for the recruiter in the metro felt small and unimaginative. With the vast resources and plans the organization supposedly has, it was baffling how cheap and simple this plotline seemed. Finally, the ending was incredibly weak. Rather than tying together the story in a meaningful or surprising way, it felt rushed and uninspired. It lacked the emotional or intellectual payoff that viewers were hoping for, leaving the season to end on a sour note. What made Squid Game season one exceptional was its mix of smart writing, genuine suspense, and the feeling that every decision mattered. In season two, however, the characters and the narrative are nowhere near as clever as the premise suggests. The lack of depth, plot twists, and intelligent strategies turned what could have been a gripping sequel into a predictable and uninspired mess. Ultimately, season two feels like a wasted opportunity. The show had the potential to build on its fascinating premise, but instead, it relied on clichés, underwhelming games, and shallow character arcs. For a series that once stood out for its originality and sharp commentary, this sequel was a major step backward.

I think this is overhyped. The story is pretty slow and unrealistic. There are good moments but overall it's average
