Adam Vollmann a 40 ans, il est journaliste pour la rédaction web d’un grand quotidien national. Un matin, s'affiche sur l’écran de télévision en face de lui le portrait d’Axel Challe, désigné comme le principal suspect dans l’affaire du meurtre d’une jeune fille, à Guerches-sur-Isoire. Lorsqu’il inooooousiste auprès de son rédacteur en chef pour partir sur le champ en reportage là-bas, il lui explique qu’il en vient, de là-bas, qu’il y a grandi. Ce qu’il ne dit pas, c’est qu’il connait bien Axel Challe : c’était son ami. Plus encore, Axel Challe était le demi-dieu de son enfance.
