Meh. J’ai tellement de problèmes avec ce film et les messages qu’il véhicule. Produit de son époque, une vision très stéréotypée de la notion de « voyager pour se retrouver », « aller à la découverte d’autres cultures et spiritualités », « se dépayser ». Résultat, des destinations basiques et incroyablement clichés avec une série d’idées reçues qui se succèdent et qui créent une carte peu crédible, occidentalo-centrée pour les Blancs privilégiées. Il se veut transmettre un certain nombre d’idéologies censées changer notre (nous général et abstrait) vision du monde, mais je ne vois qu’une bande d’adultes traversant leur « middle age crisis », perdus et avec beaucoup d’argent à dépenser. P.S. : la romance de la fin m’a un peu dégoutée.
Quelques longueurs mais une Julia Roberts emouvante et naturelle. Qui veut choisir le bonheur...
Vu dans le train pour aller à Paris. Franchement trop bien, j’ai bcp aimé. Le film est long (2h20) mais c’est bien parce qu’il est vrmt en 3 parties majeures qui se suivent et on est prit dans l’histoire ; il y a d’abord mange, puis prie, et enfin aime. Julia Robert joue très bien même si des fois elle a des réactions un peu en mode gamine ou pick me mdr mais sinon super film, une belle leçon sur tout le chemin de vie de Liz, chaque rencontre est importante et constitue une étape. Ça donne envie d’aller faire une retraite méditative en Inde.

I think not everyone will like this movie, but some people would like it cause they can relate to it and feel it. Searching for peace and for herself, many people can relate to that. There are some beautiful quotes in it that make us want to really think about it.
