Joel Edgerton offre une performance tout en retenue, mais c'est Ruth Negga qui fait figure de vraie révélation du film, tant elle dégage une justesse splendide selon l’intensité des moments filmés. Mildred et Richard Loving décident de se marier, sauf qu’il est blanc et qu’elle noire. L’Etat de Virginie interdisant les mariages interraciaux, le couple va alors porter leur affaire devant les tribunaux. Tourné en Virginie, sur les lieux mêmes de l’histoire, car l’histoire est ici basée sur des faits réels. Un drame subtil, sobre, une grande histoire d'amour. 🎬 🎬 🎬
