The passionate Merchant Ivory drama tells the story of Françoise Gilot (Natascha McElhone), the only lover of Pablo Picasso (Sir Anthony Hopkins) who was strong enough to withstand his ferocious cruelty, and move on with her life.
🎬 Le film de James Ivory relate en priorité la relation de Picasso avec les femmes et principalement celle avec Françoise Gilot. L’homme derrière le peintre est ici montré comme un monstre d’égoïsme, certains événements ont été romancés, mais l'ensemble repose sur une enquête minutieuse. Françoise, jeune étudiante en peinture rencontre Pablo Picasso, en cette année 1943 elle a 22 ans et lui 62. Malgré tout ils vont s'aimer d'une passion durable et destructrice. Anthony Hopkins est métamorphosé à s'y méprendre, mais il n'arrive pas à ressortir le côté hispanique de Picasso. Une semi-réussite qui reste tout de même très honorable dans l'oeuvre de James Ivory. 🎬 🎬 🎬
